The honest version
Why fiber broadband is better for online learning
A class is upload. With the camera on, a student sends 2 to 4 Mbps continuously, and a proctored exam often requires both camera and screen share, which is more upload again. A connection sized only for watching video will pass every speed test and still drop a student out of an exam.
Every Gazon plan is symmetric, so upload matches download at 100 Mbps as much as at 400. That is the property this use case actually needs, and it is the one most home connections do not have.

Proctored exams
Camera and screen share together, often for two hours, with no chance to restart. Cable the machine if you can.
Recorded lectures
Downstream and undemanding. Every tier carries them comfortably, even with the rest of the house online.
Several students
Two children in classes at once is two upload streams. This is where 200 Mbps stops being optional.
The household alongside
Classes happen during the day, when the TV is often on. Size for both.

Setup
Before an exam, not during it
Plug the machine into the router the day before, not five minutes beforehand. A cable removes Wi-Fi as a variable, and Wi-Fi is the most common reason a session drops at exactly the wrong moment.
Close whatever is syncing in the background (cloud backup, a game updating, someone else's large upload) and ask the household to keep the 4K stream off for the duration. Both are free and both help more than a plan upgrade.

Online learning: common questions
What speed do I need for online classes?
100 Mbps comfortably carries one student. The figure that matters is upload: a camera sends 2 to 4 Mbps, and ours matches download at every tier.
Why does my video freeze while the teacher is clear?
That is upload. Your outgoing camera feed is the half a download-heavy connection neglects. Every Gazon plan is symmetric, which removes that asymmetry.
Can you guarantee the connection will not drop during an exam?
No, and nobody can honestly guarantee that on a residential line. What we can say is that the line is not deliberately slowed at any point in the month, and that a cable to the machine removes the most common cause of a drop.
Two children have classes at the same time. What should we take?
200 Mbps. Two upload streams plus whatever else the house is doing during the day is the load worth sizing for.
How long does installation take?
