This is central Pune, not a suburb that grew outward. The railway station, the metro and the bus stand are all here, and the Pataleshwar caves next to them are the oldest built thing in the city. Buildings are older and closer together than anything in Wakad or Tathawade, which makes the last stretch of cable the interesting part: shorter runs, but through streets that were laid out long before anyone was pulling fiber down them.
